Andrew Baker (16 August 2019)

Andrew Baker Sextet present

Friday 16 August 2019 at 7 pm

The sextet is made up of world-class Scottish and English musicians. Baker's original compositions draw heavy inspiration on Peruvian folklore as well as Eastern and Western music. Festejos are mixed with Marineras, ancestral Sicuri melodies work as a springboard for non-idiomatic improvisation, and Saya rhythms work for a heartfelt song to la Pachamama.  Melodies inspired and refined by Ayahuasca and Astral travel in the Andean mountains and the Scottish landscapes to try to reach the heart of the listener and raise their feet to the air.
